HELMY ABOULEISH

CEO AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF SEKEM GROUP

 

Helmy Abouleish is the CEO of SEKEM, a pioneering social enterprise in Egypt that integrates sustainable practices across agriculture, business, education, and healthcare. Founded by his father in 1977, SEKEM has become a leader in biodynamic farming and social entrepreneurship. Helmy joined SEKEM in 1983 and has played a crucial role in its expansion, transforming desert land into biodynamic farmland and creating a thriving community of over 13,000 farmers.

Under his leadership, SEKEM has become a global leader in organic agriculture, earning recognition such as the Right Livelihood Award in 2003. Helmy advocates for sustainability and addresses global challenges like climate change and food security. He also serves as president of Demeter International, the global association for biodynamic agriculture.

Helmy is also the founder of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council and the driving force behind the Economy of Love certification, which promotes sustainable farming practices. His philosophy emphasizes the harmony between personal and professional life, believing true development stems from love, compassion, and respect for nature. Helmy’s work has contributed to the transformation of over 47,000 acres of land, benefiting countless communities. He continues to inspire others with his vision for a sustainable and just world.

PROFESSOR EMERITUS DATO' DR. MOHAMAD AZEMI MOHAMAD NOOR

EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN AT BINASKIL ACADEMY

 

Professor Dato' Dr. Mohamad Azemi Mohamad Noor is a distinguished academic leader with over 30 years of experience in food science, technology, and education. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman at Binaskil Academy, guiding training and consulting projects across various sectors. Under his leadership, the academy has become a leading institution in education and skills development.

Professor Dato' Dr. Azemi has held prominent roles, including the Kuok Foundation Professorial Chair in Food Science and Technology and Distinguished Professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia. He also served as Deputy President at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), where he helped elevate the institution’s standing in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

He was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus by Universiti Kuala Lumpur and the Tokoh Pendidik MARA Award in 2018 for his contributions to education. A sought-after speaker, he has received international accolades, including the USDA Cochrane Award and the Japanese Scientific and Promotion of Science Award.

With a PhD in Food Technology from the University of New South Wales, Professor Dato' Dr. Azemi continues to shape the future of academia and industry through his leadership and ongoing contributions to education and research.

YBHG. PROFESSOR DATO' DR. H’NG PAIK SAN

PROFESSOR, FACULTY OF FORESTRY AND ENVIRONMENT, UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA (UPM)

 

Prof. Dato' Dr. H'ng Paik San is a distinguished expert in environmental science, carbon trading, and sustainable finance. He is the founder of ICAS Ltd, a consultancy firm specializing in sustainable practices and environmental solutions. With a PhD in Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Prof. H'ng has built a highly influential career that bridges academia, industry, and international environmental policy.

He holds a prominent position as a professor in the Faculty of Forestry & Environment at UPM, where he has contributed extensively to research and education in the field of environmental science. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of the Malaysian National Carbon Sink Standard Formulation Committee and is Malaysia’s National Representative & Convener for ISO Carbon Sink Standards.

Prof. H'ng has played a critical role in the formulation of Malaysia's GreenTech Master Plan and has successfully integrated timber standards into the International Standards Organization (ISO). He has also represented Malaysia in ISO since 2015, contributing to the development of global standards for carbon sinks and sustainable practices.

In addition to his academic and consultancy roles, Prof. H'ng is an Advisor to the Ministry of Green Technology on Carbon Trading, where his expertise guides national strategies related to carbon markets. He is also the Head of the Laboratory at the Institute of Tropical Forestry & Forest Products, UPM, where he leads groundbreaking research on tropical forestry and forest products.

With over a decade of strategic consultancy experience, Prof. H'ng has worked with various SMEs and global firms, including his role as a Technical Consultant for Estrala Venture Capital (Australia). His work has been integral to advancing sustainable business practices, particularly in carbon trading and environmental finance.

Prof. Dato' Dr. H'ng Paik San is a key figure in both national and international environmental standards, known for his leadership in carbon sink standards and sustainable forestry practices. His contributions to global environmental policy and the development of sustainability frameworks have had a lasting impact on both the academic and business communities.

PROFESSOR DR. NOORHANA YAHYA

MANAGING DIRECTOR, SPIN EIGHT NANO TECHNOLOGY SDN BHD

 

Dr. Noorhana Yahya is a former professor in academic and researcher at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) with over 15 years of expertise in Physics, Nanotechnology, and Green Technology. Her research focuses on sustainable solutions, including the development of green fertilizers and the use of nanotechnology for enhanced oil recovery. Notably, her "Next Generation Green and Economical Urea" project has gained national and international recognition.

Professor Noorhana has secured significant grants, including RM 11.4 million and RM 42.3 million from PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd for her research. She has also received numerous awards, including the “Best Inventor Award” from the International Federation of Inventor Associations and multiple gold medals for her Green Urea project.

With over 240 research publications, she is a thought leader in her field and has been a keynote speaker at international conferences. A passionate advocate for STEM education, Professor Noorhana has led initiatives such as the National STEM Movement and contributed to the ASIA Pacific STEM Roundtable.

Her leadership and innovations have earned her prestigious honors, including the "Pingat Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (P.C.M)" award. Professor Noorhana continues to shape the future of science, technology, and sustainable development, both in Malaysia and globally.

DR. BILLY TANG CHEE SENG

FOUNDER & CEO, PWD SMART FARMABILITY

 

Dr. Billy Tang Chee Seng is a pioneering agriculturalist, social entrepreneur, and advocate for people with disabilities (PWD). As the Founder and CEO of PWD Smart FarmAbility, he is dedicated to transforming lives through regenerative agriculture, empowering marginalized communities, particularly those with disabilities. His enterprise focuses on providing solutions to food insecurity and promoting sustainable farming practices.

Dr. Tang’s inspiring journey from paraplegia to becoming a social entrepreneur has earned him national and international recognition, including prestigious awards and appointments such as representing PWD at various forums and contributing to Malaysia’s 12th National Development Plan. His enterprise’s initiatives, including regenerative vegetable terrariums and organic aquaponics, have helped alleviate food insecurity and promote sustainable living.

He is the author of The PWD Smart FarmAbility: Journey from Wheels to Farm, a book that showcases practical solutions for improving food security through sustainable agricultural practices. Dr. Tang’s work continues to inspire positive change, demonstrating that physical limitations do not restrict one’s potential to make a significant impact on society. DR Billy has recent won the Oxford Award for Lifetime Achievement in Humanitarian Impact and Global Sustainability.

Ts. Shamsul Bahar Mohd Nor is a distinguished professional with over two decades of experience in the technology sector, specializing in sustainable business practices. He has held key leadership roles in organizations like the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), Sustainable Business Network Association Malaysia (SustNET), and Green Growth Asia Foundation.

Yang Suselawati Zakaria is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in business development, landscape architecture, and TVET training. She holds an Executive Master in Applied Sustainable Practice from Think Plus Academy & Inst. of Business Excellence, a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Trisakti University, and a Diploma in Landscape Design from Institut Teknologi MARA. Currently serving as a TVET Business Consultant at Hustlerpreneur Academy and a Business Development Consultant at Byti Eco Food Industry, Yang has demonstrated expertise in sustainable project management, strategic development for SLDN programs, and nurturing entrepreneurs. Her career spans over two decades, including roles as a Resident Landscape Architect at ECODESIGN SDN. BHD, Founder of Indah Aroma Enterprise, and Landscape Architect at Putrajaya Holdings. She is proficient in TVET training, strategic planning, and solution implementation via industrial base skills training.

Dr. Fung Fwei Chong is an expert in agricultural biotechnology, known for his work in hybrid rice cultivation and sustainable farming solutions. He is the founder and principal researcher at Miracle Bioenergy Industries Sdn. Bhd. and an adjunct professor at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK).


Dr. Fung has pioneered hybrid rice technology, which boosts productivity and resilience. ASSOC. PROF. DR. DZULJASTRI ABDUL RAZAK

RESEARCH FELLOW, INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY MALAYSIA

Dr. Dzuljastri Abdul Razak is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Banking and Finance from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and a Master's degree in Business Administration. He is recognized for his expertise in Islamic finance, banking management, and operations.

Dr. Dzuljastri's research focuses on Islamic finance, corporate governance, sustainable development, and financial regulations. He has authored several influential papers, contributing significantly to the academic literature on Islamic finance. His work has earned him over 3,800 citations, reflecting his strong impact in the field.

In 2022, Dr. Dzuljastri was awarded the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Islamic Business and Finance for his research on "Factors Influencing Sustainability Reporting Practices among Malaysian Public Listed Companies." This recognition highlights his contribution to both Islamic business studies and corporate sustainability.

Additionally, Dr. Dzuljastri serves as a mentor and advisor to students and professionals in the field of Islamic finance, helping shape the future of the industry through his academic and professional roles.
